Pretties Book Review

Untitled-1

Hello!

After finishing the first book, i kept reading this series. Today i have the review for the second book, “Pretties”. For my review on “Uglies” click here.

Gorgeous. Popular. Perfect.

Perfectly wrong.

Tally has finally become pretty. Now her looks are beyond perfect, her clothes are awesome, her boyfriend is totally hot, and she’s completely popular. It’s everything she’s ever wanted.

But beneath all the fun — the nonstop parties, the high-tech luxury, the total freedom — is a nagging sense that something’s wrong. Something important. Then a message from Tally’s ugly past arrives. Reading it, Tally remembers what’s wrong with pretty life, and the fun stops cold.

Now she has to choose between fighting to forget what she knows and fighting for her life — because the authorities don’t intend to let anyone with this information survive.

I didn’t enjoy this book as much as the first. Everything is different, Tally and Shay act different and we meet new characters. I can’t say much because of spoilers, but i think this book was a but of a filler, even with all the new information i didn’t felt flat.

Still, great continuation to the series, with an amazing new cast. Full review next.

Gave it 4 stars because i didn’t enjoy Tally has much.

Uglies Book Review

Untitled-1

Hello!

Today i have a review! Sorry for not having posts last week but i went on vacations without PC.
To keep up my goal of reading all the series i own, i started “Uglies”. Haven’t read dystopians/Post Apocalyptic in a long time, it was nice change. This type of books are fasted paced and i like Scott Westerfeld writing, so this book didn’t felt flat.

Tally is about to turn sixteen, and she can’t wait. In just a few weeks she’ll have the operation that will turn her from a repellant ugly into a stunning pretty. And as a pretty, she’ll be catapulted into a high-tech paradise where her only job is to have fun.

But Tally’s new friend Shay isn’t sure she wants to become a pretty. When Shay runs away, Tally learns about a whole new side of the pretty world– and it isn’t very pretty. The authorities offer Tally a choice: find her friend and turn her in, or never turn pretty at all. Tally’s choice will change her world forever…

Like i said, fast paced. In this time, a bacteria was created to destroy gas, in our world, gas fulls everything so everything went down. They started from there and to avoid fights and rebellion because everyone is different, at 16, everyone goes through a operation to make everyone Pretty/Perfect. Tally can’t wait to have 16 and become Pretty/Perfect and go join Peris and have a blast like everyone else. Then she meets Shay and she finds out what actually is happening to everyone.

This book, focus on body image and (like every other dystopian) in what Utopia means. But it gives 90% of his attention to body image, even referencing anorexia and bulimia.

Tally changes a lot in this book, i liked this. She is selfish in the begging and ends up a good character. Unfortunately the book ends in a cliffhanger. I i’m liking this trilogy and hope to finish it quickly!

I gave if 4.5 stars, because i have some problems with some of the relationships, i felt they were rushed.
