Hello! *Scarlet book review available here*
After, what it looked like week, i finished Cress! Don’t let this mean i didn’t enjoy the book, i really like this world Marissa gave us. But it’s a 550 page book, with (what i consider) smaller font. I did enjoy this, specially the end (CINDER ROCKS!). It’s a good continuation to the series and i’m this isn’t the last one. *This is a long review but please bare with me! I have a ton of feelings*
In this third book in the Lunar Chronicles, Cinder and Captain Thorne are fugitives on the run, now with Scarlet and Wolf in tow. Together, they’re plotting to overthrow Queen Levana and her army.
Their best hope lies with Cress, a girl imprisoned on a satellite since childhood who’s only ever had her netscreens as company. All that screen time has made Cress an excellent hacker. Unfortunately, she’s just received orders from Levana to track down Cinder and her handsome accomplice.
This book is some what fast paced, i felt like it dragged in some parts specially in the scenes with Throne and Cress (beginning wise). Our new protagonist is Cress. She is very different from Cinder and Scarlet. She doesn’t understand the world around her, doesn’t know how to communicate and seems weak. She is very smart and good with software, she likes to imagine stories and she is the main character. Seems familiar?
It isn’t every day we see a protagonist like this, but she is very relatable. It’s my favorite kind of character because i do enjoy kickass female leads with weakness like everyone else (the reason of my enjoyment with Cinder). Still! I appreciate this kind of leads. She is the antagonist of Scarlet (in my opinion). Since Scarlet is this tough girl with a animal spirit (no pun intended). This balances the plot and the set of 3. Being Cinder the center.
Cress development was very different from Scarlet’s. We only see her weak/romantic side for most of the book only getting glimpses of what she can do.
The continuous plot is still very good, we get to find new things maybe we didn’t expected and we find out that nothing is easy like Cinder thought.
Overall i enjoyed the book and can’t wait for the final one. I gave it 4.7 stars because, like i said, it dragged sometimes, i didn’t felt that with the previous ones. I gave 4 stars to Scarlet, because i didn’t enjoy the lovestory very much. Still, it’s more like a 4.5 then a 4.0.
Feel free to view my review on Scarlet!

Spoiler review next!
Cinder: I’m loving her. She went every page of this book like a champion, not saying how she really felt. Being what people needed her to be, their leader. Then, she shows Kai that she is just ‘human’ like everyone else, being Selene or not. To me, that perfect character development. She started this series being alone and not understanding her true power to a women that understands what she is. Truly a great character. Of course i ship everything about Kai and her. When they kissed i clapped. I was happy as a dog when it goes outside for a walk. This shows how their relationship works, they love each other for what they are, Cinder being care free and truthful and Kai being the height that helps her be even better.
Scarlet/Wolf: I can’t say much about Scarlet because unfortunately she spends her time being tortured. This did gave me another perspective on her, i started to like her more because she isn’t always thinking of Wolf. On the other side, Wolf is just like a dog when his owner is out (if you like him i’m sorry). I just don’t get them sorry. I did enjoy the Scarlet plot in this book because it showed us how Lunars live their lives.
Throne/Cress: Can we please not have them together? Yes they are cute but (like 90% of the world) i ship Throne with myself :). I do enjoy the romantic side of Throne, Cress feels like the damsel in distress most of the time. Even blind Throne is more useful. I do enjoy their relationship, like i said in the previous review of Scarlet, it’s a guilty please kind of romance.
Everything else around: I’m curious about Winter. I’m starting to see Levana, i enjoyed reading her reaction to the dead of the doctor. Usually she is all perfect and doesn’t react. In this case she was herself. Winter seems an amazing girl. Maybe she would be a better queen rather then Cinder… Or maybe both. We shall see in the next installment.
I feel like i over analyzed the book but i do feel like it’s needed. This isn’t just a sci-fi retelling. If we things from another perspective we see 3 young girls with different personalities. Whose love interests complement them but complement each other. Like Yin and Yan.
Don’t forget to comment! Did you enjoyed this book? What was your favorite?
